Obverse
On the obverse side of 2024 British Gold Britannia and Liberty Coin, witness His Majesty King Charles III portrayed in left-profile relief, sans crown, a poignant creation by Martin Jennings for British currency following the passing of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Reverse
Turning to the reverse design of the 2024 1 oz Gold Britannia and Liberty Coins, Britannia and Liberty are showcased in right-profile relief. Their heads face opposing orientations, depending on the rotation of the coin. Britannia wears her iconic Corinthian helmet and wields a trident, while Liberty’s portrayal includes free-flowing hair, stars, and a torch.
History
While The Royal Mint and United States Mint have collaborated previously, this release is exceptional. The Britannia and Liberty design on the reverse of these coins mirrors the obverse of American coins in this series. Royal Mint Chief Engraver Gordon Summers crafted the Britannia bust, while US Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna shaped the Liberty effigy.
